Extracurricular Activities

The One-to-One Reading Program is looking for volunteers for Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 10:30 am. The success of this program runs solely on volunteer commitment. Please contact Rhonda Palmer or JoAnne Alarick for more information, or to volunteer.

Homework Club -- The Homework Club has been changed to Thursdays, at the NES Library from 3:10 to 4:15 pm.  Facilitators are Jackie Pearson and Rhonda Palmer.  Students work on homework or activities.  Snacks are provided.

School Milk Program -- There was a a very positive response to the program and the children will start having milk delivered to their classroom the week of October 29th.  The majority of parents requested milk for their child 3 days per week, so to avoid statutory holidays and NI days, we will have milk available for children Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week.  We ask that parents prepay monthly.  For more information, please call Susan Gustafson.

Breakfast Program -- The breakfast program will begin on Monday, April 28th from  8:30- 9:05 a.m.  We have 3 staff members (Ms. Marsden, Ms. Moroz, and Mr. Harding) who are sponsoring the program and who will help run it!  Altogether there are 12 staff members willing to help and we could use some parent help as well. If you are willing to help please call the office. The program is open to all students. Students wanting a breakfast come to the kitchen in the new addition. However, if you do not want your child to participate you must contact the office and let us know.

Lunch Hour House Games -- We have hired Natasha Warman  to coordinate House Games -- Grades 2 & 3 on Mondays & Fridays, and Grades 4-7 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Grade 5/6/7 Basketball -- Boys and Girls -- Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 to 5:15pm.

  Grade 6 & 7 Volleyball -- Girls -- Mondays 3:05 to 5:00 pm

Knitting Challenge -- Miss Jenkins' grade 7 class is Knitting! We have a number of projects to complete, the last being a vest for children in Afghanistan! We are challenging any knitters out in the community to pick up a pattern at the school office and knit a vest to add to ours. It would be great if we could send off 100 vests! There will be a sign-up book for your name, phone number and size of vest you are knitting.  (We need small, medium and large.)  Any questions, please call Miss Heather Jenkins or Lisa Thiessen.
